RadioGet gives you access to thousands of online radio stations. Besides listening to music, the application allows you to record and save your favorite songs to your hard disk as MP3 files. It has a simple interface with basic controls, plus some interesting features like automatic recording.
To get started, the first thing to do is to search for a radio station. On the panel to the right of the screen, you can search radios by title, genre, or popularity, browsing through a list with dozens of alternatives. When you find stations you like, you can save them to your favorites list. Conversely, you can mark stations you don't like as Junk so they don't appear in the search results again. Also, the full version of the app lets you add radio stations manually.
Recording can be done in two ways; using the buttons next to a station name or via the context menu; you can record a station that is currently playing or record multiple stations at a time. Songs will be stored in the set directory with proper names and tags, and in separate folders organized by artists.
The most interesting features of RadioGet are the automatic recording options. For example, you can set the app to record only artists of your choice, or, with the Auto Record feature, you can have the app to record numerous stations of any chosen genre automatically.
If there's one thing to complain about this application is that the audio quality of the recordings is not optimal, and in some cases not even average. While most of the songs are in 128 Kbps MP3 format, some have a bit rate of 64 Kbps, which is rather disappointing.
All that said, RadioGet is a stable and reliable app that works without problems and has an intuitive interface. Quality (and legal) issues aside, it can be a simple solution to obtain music of the style you choose for free.
